a busy green pothos
  • Pothos

Pothos, money plant, devil’s ivy – this one goes with a lot of names and is easily one of the most forgiving plants out there! It comes in a lot of varieties, is very easy to grow and nearly impossible to kill. Pothos are absolutely perfect for first time plant parents. From low light conditions to missed watering days, this one’s super resilient and can take just about anything. These are the things that make pothos the perfect indoor plant for beginners! And the best thing is that grows very quickly, so you’ll have lovely long vines growing out pretty soon too.

a lovely monstera on a desk next to a laptop
  • Monstera

Monsteras look like they could be high maintenance, but they are in fact, pretty chill and easy going. I have had a mini monstera at home for almost year a now and I was genuinely surprised at how little care and attention they require. All this one needs is some indirect light and a bit of water couple times a week for it to thrive. I have placed mine on my desk next to the window and it’s gone from having just a few leaves to a big girl that’s going to need repotting pretty soon!

a dense zz plant in a beautiful grey pot
  • ZZ

This one’s another indoor plant for beginners I absolutely love as it’s nearly impossible to kill! If your home doesn’t get a lot of light or if you are someone who needs to travel frequently, then I would highly recommend getting a ZZ. It’s super low maintenance, can be placed in a room with the least amount of light, and can survive without water for 2 weeks! Isn’t that awesome!

  • Succulents

Succulents have gotten a bad rep as being difficult to maintain, but that’s far from the truth. In my opinion, these are some of the easiest house plants for beginners. They do not need to be watered frequently, which makes it perfect if you need to travel or simply forget to water. However, the thing with succulents is that they do need quite a bit of sunlight. So it’s best to get one only if your house receives enough light and place it next to a window. Also, make sure to check the top layer of soil and only water it if it is completely dry. Overwatered succulents lead to droopy and wrinkly leaves and we definitely don’t want that.

big snake plant next to sofa
  • Snake plant

This is the perfect beginner-friendly indoor plant, especially if you are worried about killing one. Snake plants are super forgiving and can survive with almost no sunlight, so much so that these plants can easily be placed in your bathrooms too. But that’s not all. Snake plant can survive without water for quite a long time. Even though it doesn’t grow too fast, they can survive almost any conditions and also look great while doing so!
